From Sandboxes to everlasting quests, from dungeon arenas to massive map exploration, from crafting weapons & armors to conquering bandit camps & bases, there is so much that one can do in an open world. If you’re someone who wants a bit of freedom and wants to spend time exploring the map, then we have put together this amazing list of the best open world games which you can play.

Are you eager to learn about them? Let’s get down to business.

Upcoming Open World Games For Ultimate Gamers

Atomic Heart

The atomic heart is a wild-looking open world game. It combines different game elements of Bioshock and Fallout with a unique Russian touch. It is an action RPG game where the story is all about things that could’ve happened in a technologically advanced USSR but it didn’t. In this game, you will be encountering lots of robots, the Internet, holograms and other inventive technologies all amalgamated into the essence of communism, imperialism and the West.

You start out as a protagonist working at the Soviet KGB who is sent to a facility and is expected to bring back a report. The game consists of a number of regions underground and above ground. It further pushes the player to combat robots in PvE using a mix of firearms and melee weapons. The robots are domestic and can turn hostile if they sense any danger approaching. It also includes a PvP version which gives you a whole lot more freedom to use a variety of weapons.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is the much anticipated upcoming game right now and it has gained some massive exposure till date. The game is set to release in April of 2020 and has been announced during the recent E3 2019 event. Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be an open world, action/adventure game where the story is going to take place in the dystopian Night City 57 years from now. It is a city obsessed with glamour, power and body implants. What makes this game quite different from the rest of the others?

This time you will be playing with your favorite co-star Keanu Reeves.

You start out as a mercenary outlaw named V where you are seeking a specific implant which can lead you to immortal life. The game offers three different classes for your mercenary outlaw. There exists a variety of combinations for your character’s cyberware, skillset, and playstyle. The game is not only an open world game but the choices you make will shape the world all around you.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint

Do you enjoy tactical shooting titles? If yes, then Tom Clancy’s titles are names not unknown to you. With the Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the game offers individual a tactical shooting experience with some previous iterations from the previous title, Wildlands. However, this time, the developers are providing tactical shooter experience in an open world environment. Just like the previous Wildlands, where players can explore different areas of the map and can take on a variety of missions at any instance.

Only this time, there will be a lot of maneuvers and fast-paced shoot-to-kill action with Jon Bernthal.

Breakpoint is set four years ahead of the Wildland storyline where players will start on a fictional south pacific Island named Aurora. The island is controlled by a billionaire entrepreneur Jack Skell who has his hands in all sorts of corruption. In this game, he will be investing in advanced tech to push his cause forward. Your task will be to find out what’s happening and eliminate any threat coming your way. Though the world will not be any bigger than the Wildlands but I am sure you will have great fun.

Dying Light 2

Who doesn’t like to bash some zombie brains out, right? Dying Light is a first-person zombie apocalypse action role-playing game which is set in an open-world. The game is set to release during the early 2020 and was announced at the E3 2018 event. Dying Light is an interactive title where you work your way through a zombie apocalypse by climbing ledges, leap off from edges and wall running.

You start out as a protagonist named Aiden Caldwell who is quite skillful when it comes to survival. You are equipped with different tools including a grappling hook to rope down from high-points and a paraglide around the city. The game is a tough survival game as it is mostly melee-based where a major part of the zombie killing is done using melee-based weapons. The more you use the weapons, the more it tends to wear off and can even get weak and broken if a player uses them for a longer time.

The game is quite interesting because of the gameplay changes with the environment. The zombies’ attacks are weak during the day time whereas they become more hostile and aggressive in the dark.

Bio-Mutant

The game was set to release this year but we are still waiting for its launch to come in effect.

Set in an open-world, BioMutant takes place in a post-apocalyptic Kung-fu world where your player is equipped with the best martial arts styled combat system which allows you to mix melee attacks, shooting attacks and incredible mutant abilities to fight the forces of evil. The martial art style combat system provides immense combat fluidity. Plus, you will meet masters in-game who will train you.

In this game, the combat will never feel like you’re going through a repetitive pattern over & over again.

A poisonous oil has sprung out from the ground and is infecting everything living. Most of the world is infected including the Tree of Life, a giant tree that brings life to the entire world in which you’re living.

Now, you will have to combat your ways with powerful bosses and beat the game. It is quite interactive because the story shapes up based on the decisions you make during the gameplay.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Set to release in March of 2020, Watch Dogs: Legion is another great addition to the WatchDogs saga and is the third game in the series. If you have played the previous two versions of the Watch Dogs series, then I guess you already do know that Watch Dogs is a game set in an open world environment. You play this game from a third-person’s perspective as a single player or a co-op.

The game is set in a fictionalized London which means that it will encompass notable landmarks, boroughs, and cultural styles of the city. Unlike the previous game versions where you were limited to play with a single protagonist, Watch Dogs: Legion allows you to play the game with multiple characters. You can recruit these characters by doing unique missions in the game. From old age retired assassins to ex-spies, from robot experts to bare-knuckle brawlers, you can recruit anyone you want.

All you have to do is find them.
